The Crisis Centre has joined the Scotiabank Vancouver Half Marathon and 5K on Sunday June 28, 2015 as a charity partner!

Half marathon and 5K race participants can choose to fundraise for a charity while they are training and will receive a 5% discount on their race registration.  Start the registration process at the Scotiabank Half Marathon and 5K website and choose “Register to Run the Charity Challenge”.  You can select the Crisis Centre from the drop-down menu and complete the registration process.

Fundraising Tips:

  1. Send Emails – Send emails to your whole network (friends, family, co-workers) encouraging them to support you in your fundraising efforts
  2. Social Media – Share the link to your fundraising page on any social media pages you have
  3. Car Wash – Host a community car wash for a donation to your team
  4. Challenge by the Boss – Get the boss to agree that if every employee raises a minimum amount that they’ll dress up like a pig, shave their beard, sit in a dunking booth, get a pie in the face, etc. (the possibilities are endless)
  5. Brown Bag Lunch Day – Everyone brings in their own lunch and donates the money they would have spent
  6. Breakfast by Donation – Invite your friends and neighbours over to enjoy pancakes, or another breakfast favourite, for a donation
  7. Block Party – Invite your friends and neighbours over for a kick-off to your training and/or fundraising campaign
  8. Be a YouTube Star – Film a video about why you are fundraising for the Crisis Centre (post to social media, or on your fundraising page)
  9. Auctions – As a stand-alone event or alongside another event, auctions are a quick and easy way to fundraise. You can:
  10. Host a silent auction. Ask local businesses for donations which can be used in a silent auction.  Hold the auction during a day at work – employees can come buy and bid on items.
  11. Jellybean guess: Fill a jar with jelly beans and have people pay to guess how many there are in the jar.  Winner gets the candies.
  12. Comedy Club: ask a local comedy club to host an evening in support of your event.  Sell tickets – for instance, 10 tickets at $10 each means you just raised $100.
