After a suicide loss, many survivors feel isolated. Finding sameness and belonging are key ingredients needed to help their journey through bereavement. Feeling supported and with the possibility to create new connections is essential.

In this 75-minute session, you will find a safe place to meet other suicide loss survivors to share challenges and resources, feelings and ideas.

This session will cover:

Facilitated grief circle for a particular loss type relationship:

  • For those who have lost a parent
  • For those who have lost a partner
  • For those who have lost a child
  • For those who have lost a sibling

Who is it for?

Anyone who has lost a significant other to suicide and who wants to join others in building a supportive community of survivors.

Attendees will be advised to attend at their discretion, acknowledging that grieving a suicide can be challenging. Attendees will be invited to be mindful of the content of their sharing to ensure everyone’s safety and wellbeing.

The Facilitator

This session is facilitated by Jesse Cervenka and co-facilitated by a suicide loss survivor. Jesse is the new Bereavement Coordinator at the Crisis Centre of BC as well as an intern Counsellor at the Vancouver Hospice Society, where he helps run various groups and provides one-on-one grief counseling. Jesse hopes to make this event a safe place for people to share their stories and build a sense of community.

Our Impact The topic and word "suicide" is not so scary after taking a training from the Crisis Centre of BC. I'm grateful to have been here today, and am hopeful that I can help people in the future. safeTALK participant, Agassiz
