Skillfully Responding to People in Distress – How we can Support Each Other

Mike arrives at work after not getting much sleep the night before. Once again, he had been going over and over in his mind everything happening in his life and work.

A deeply caring person and a well liked manager, Mike is aware of the struggles taking place in the lives of the owners of the company, his staff, and his customers. While at work, he notices staff helping irate customers, colleagues seemingly tense, his office mates sometimes in tears, and those in leadership roles often short and rude due to the immense financial pressure the company is under just to stay afloat. High levels of stress at the office have become commonplace, and Mike is experiencing this on a daily basis now.

Life is tricky. This example, along with countless others, captures what many of us are going through.

We are living in challenging times. Having the skills and practical tools for responding to and de-escalating stress both in your workplace and personal life could provide the help you need.

The Crisis Centre of BC is offering Skillfully Responding to People in Distress, a 4 hour live online course led by trained staff. This class is designed to help all individuals respond to and de-escalate emotional stress, and has become a helping tool for many workplaces. As the demand to emotionally support staff seems to be at an all time high, leaders are seeking new ways to create a sense of togetherness with their teams, including those working remotely.

When a team learns together, it creates opportunities for engagement that may not have seemed possible before. If your place of business is interested in gaining the skills that Mike could use, check out our programming online.
