Job Description for  Volunteers with the Bereavement Program

Have you lost someone to suicide and are interested in helping others with the same life experiences? Are you interested in sharing hope, and being involved in creating and delivering resources to others who have been impacted by suicide?

For some, volunteering after a terrible loss like suicide is part of their journey and healing process.

About the Role:

As a Volunteer for our Bereavement Program, you can be part of the planning, promotion and delivery of our events and resources. You will be joining other volunteers with the same life experiences in the process. In addition, you’ll have opportunities to attend some training sessions at the Crisis Centre.

Volunteer Requirements:

  • Strong desire to work with others who have been impacted by suicide.
  • Interest in / personal connection to the topic of mental health and suicide postvention & prevention.
  • Feeling ready to help others by having done part of your own healing by having attended counseling and/or a support group..
  • An interview with the Bereavement Coordinator is required.
  • Depending on the role and participation volunteers may be asked to undergo a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check.
